Many late nights, is this how students should spend their evenings?
We have all been there. You have spent countless late nights working on school projects or completing your assigned homework. Sometimes you knew what to do, while other time you were scratching your head and wished you paid more attention in class. On top of your homework you have to study for those 3 exams tomorrow.
Those were the good old days. The older crowd may not have to worry about homework anymore; their children may very well be heading down that learning path striving for that ‘A’. Some may say students spend too much time on homework and others may feel there should be more. What is the best for our school systems and why?
Some suggestions may be to cut back on homework and make the actual school day longer. Instead of 1 hours of math class and 30 min of math homework, let’s make math class 1.hours long. This would allow for the same amount of overall learning with the added benefit of having the teacher there helping. So not instead of a 5 hour school day, it may become 6.5 hours long.
Another suggestion is to give more homework as it helps students minds grow. The more you teach them, the stronger they will become when the school year is over. We currently do not so enough homework or after hours studying. Due to the lack of learning, students do not have a weaker education by the time they finish school.
What value does homework add? Should we have it or should it be reduced? The overall question to answer is this, should students spend their evenings working on homework?

Who do we protect? The mom or the baby?
Do parents have the right to choose? If a mom is not legally allowed to abort, then who should pay to raise the child? What is the mom does not want to risk medical complications? What is the father is not around to help raise the child? Does the unborn baby have rights? What is the mother simply does not want to bear a child?
There are so many questions and even more reasons for or against abortion. Some of the things to keep in mind is that perhaps someone should look out for the unborn child, but also we have to look out for the mother. The problem is that having the child’s and mom best interests in mind will conflict with each other. When there is a conflict there truly can only be one side we should support. We can either protect the baby that has yet to come into this world or the mother/family that is already here.
Morals and ethics can always be murky as they sometimes are based on ones personal feelings. So then we all have the difficult task to determine who ultimately should have the decision over abortion, the law or the parent.
On one side if we do not give the baby a chance then some people would claim the unborn child was murdered. All life is precious and it is up to us to govern ourselves to ensure we protect those that can not look out for themselves.
On the other hand, the mom is already here and it is her body. Should anyone else have the right to tell her what she can or can not do with her own body? It should be up to the mom to decide as no one should be forced to do something against their will.
So here we are, should abortion be the mother’s choice? Why do you feel the way you do?

How did we come to be?
Where did we come from? How did we get here? Is human existence due to random acts of nature or was man created by a higher power.
Well these questions have been around for eons and the problems is that we are no were close to understanding the truth. The worst part is it will be many lifetimes before that truth is absolutely know to all.
There is the belief that a higher power is responsible for creating mankind. Then you have the almost exact opposite belief that the universe in its infinity and randomness was the reason for Life on earth. We then evolved from single celled organisms to what we are today.
One side refuses to believe that there is something more powerful that created mankind and they believe we evolved and are all related to other life forms on the planet. Connected in such a way that if traced back you can see where the evolutionary splits happened.
On the other side people refuse that we are related to primates and that we were created in god’s image. We were put here for a reason and that we should continue to pray to a higher power. They abide by written words passed down by higher beings.
Both sides try to refute the other, and both sides cannot be right. Evolutionists will try to prove through science how we evolved, and worshipers have bibles and faith as all the reason needed. The overall question is this; did a higher power create Man?

What is the answer to gun control.
Many of us take them for granted. These heavy objects can give a weak person a sense of power. The power possessed can take the life of another individual from a distance. Also the power to protect one’s self from harm. This is the power of guns.
Are they harmful? Are they helpful? Are they needed? Are they wanted? This is some of the questions people may ask when talking about guns. People that may answer yes to the four questions above may still wonder if we should have stricter gun control.
Strict gun control may infringe on people rights. Strict gun control may save lives. Strict gun control may even cost lives. We have all seen the horror they can cause and we also seen the freedoms they can bring. Where is the balance between not enough and too much.
When we see horror stories on the news about massacres in local universities we wonder how this can happen. At the same time you may have a hostage situation that is resolved without any innocent people being harmed.
Maybe there should be a law that it is criminal not to have a gun in your home. It is also arguable that no one needs them.
So, do you have a right to bear arms? Should you be allowed to own a gun and why do you feel that way?

Should we have our children wear a uniform in public school?
A student wakes up Monday morning and it is time to get ready for school. Do they reach into their closet and throw on their school uniform, or do they grab their favorite blue jeans and a T-shirt?
This student is not going to a private school, but in fact they are getting ready for a public school. Young Billy may or may not have the choice on what they should wear today because some of our public school systems are making school uniforms mandatory.
If your own public school is considering uniforms, what would be some of the advantages or negatives of such a policy? Do you like the thought of everyone united and looking the same, or maybe you want your child to have the freedom to choose.
School uniform polices may start becoming more common in our public school system. Perhaps they are just the thing the next generation needs.

Is this the place for TV style advertisements.
Have you been in this situation? You pay $20 for movie tickets for you and your friend. Spend another $20 on soda and popcorn. Now you make your way into a movie theatre and find the perfect seat to watch this movie you have been waiting months for. You are now settled in ready for you movie to begin. The lights dim, the film real lights up the silver screen and all is good.
Now this is where something happens that seems unexpected. A Television style advertisement begins to play on the big screen. A phone commercial plays through, then a car commercial, then another car commercial. At this point some movie trailers for upcoming shows may play and after 25 minutes pass your movie begins.
The question is this. If you just finished paying $40 dollars to watch a movie, should you be seeing TV style commercials unrelated to Movies?

Where do we draw the line between the a green earth and greedy corporations?
Most people these days try and do their part to leave this planet somewhat healthy. Walk somewhere instead of taking a car, recycle their refuse and of course cut down on plastic use.
So now grocery stores are jumping in on helping mother earth (or so they claim). To do their part, some stores are now charging a fee if you want require a plastic bag. The stores are encouraging people to buy reusable bags to help cut down on the amount of plastic bags produced. If you go down to your local store, are you willing to pay 5-10 cents extra for every plastic bag you use?
At first glance one may say great, it is about time. If you give it more than a few minutes thought, a person may ask themselves a few things.
1) Where is the money collected from the plastic bags going?
2) If this is to save on using plastic bags, why have plastic bags at all. Why not only carry paper bags for their customers.
3) How much energy goes into making the reusable bags? Some contain a lot of plastic and do not look recyclable after you wear them out.
4) Wait a second, have we not been recycling those plastic bags already. Does this not help reduce the environmental impact?
Green or Greed? What are the true intentions and should they charge a fee for bags?
