    No Way!

Should there be TV style commercials shown in a movie theatre?

Is this the place for TV style advertisements.

Is this the place for TV style advertisements.

Have you been in this situation?  You pay $20 for movie tickets for you and your friend.  Spend another $20 on soda and popcorn.  Now you make your way into a movie theatre and find the perfect seat to watch this movie you have been waiting months for.  You are now settled in ready for you movie to begin.  The lights dim, the film real lights up the silver screen and all is good.

Now this is where something happens that seems unexpected.   A Television style advertisement begins to play on the big screen.  A phone commercial plays through, then a car commercial, then another car commercial.   At this point some movie trailers for upcoming shows may play and after 25 minutes pass your movie begins.

The question is this.  If you just finished paying $40 dollars to watch a movie, should you be seeing TV style commercials unrelated to Movies?

If I am paying for a show there should be no ads. I will be more then happy to watch ads if the movie is free.

I would not want to buy a new car with Rogers Cable panted on the side of it.

It’s okay as long as they’re shown before the movie is supposed to start. If the movie time is 9:00 I want the movie to start then - not have 20 minutes of commercials start at 9:00 and be forced to sit through them. I pay good money to see movies, not commercials.

Commercials are for the profit of the theator, which normally has no say in the price of a ticket, and makes very little off the actual movie. Most theaters either need to raise the price of concessions above the already ridiculous prices they are at, or run a couple of local or even national commercials. If I can go to a movie and keep the price of my popcorn under the price of my ticket, all for the price of sitting there for five to ten minutes longer, then I see no problem with it.
