Does a parent have the right to smoke inside a vehicle when a child is present debate?

Can we use them anywhere we want?
We all take many things for granted and feel that no one should tell us what we should do. We make our own decisions and we have no one to answer to but our self. When should people step in, or when is it none of their business?
If a parent is in a car with their children, is it ok for them to light up a cigarette? After all, it is the parents’ vehicle. Since it is their property, they have the right to do whatever they want. Besides, if they roll down the window the smoke will go right outside.
Little Billy sitting in the back does not care as he is likely busy snacking, sleeping, looking outside, or is playing a game. Billy is use to the smoke and it does not really bother him.
After all, we do live in a free country. If the child does not mind, are there any good reasons why a parent should or should not smoke inside a car?

Someone has to look out for the kids. If people are smoking in a confined space, this will fill up the air quickly with second hand smoke.
If such parents do not know better, then there is no choice but to pass laws to make such actions illegal.
Someone has to look out for minors.

If an adult wants to smoke, that’s fine. They’re old enough to make that choice. But they have no right to endanger others while doing it. Especially when it comes to children. A child’s health is important and if they’re own parents won’t protect them, someone has to.

I’m a smoker and I won’t even smoke with my dogs in the car let alone someone’s kid. Car interior is too damn small - little lungs can’t process that much condensed junk in the air. Plus I hate the smell of cig in my dog’s fur - I imagine some parents hate that smell on their kids too.
My dad used to smoke in the car, I never complained because it was my dad and he was the adult and what he said and did was his business, not mine. But I hated it - made me sick. Just cause your kid doesn’t say anything doesn’t mean they don’t care. Smarten the hell up.
Tangent thought: not impressed with no smoking in restaurants though. Makes me realise just how boring the person opposite me is. At least when I could chug a stick I had something to do for 7 minutes. And seriously, would the Jack Rabbit Slim’s restaurant dialogue in Pulp Fiction have been as interesting without the rollie scene - definitely not.

BTW, I’d reaaaalllly like to hear from someone who supports smoking in a car.
I need a good laugh.
