I'm a smoker and I won't even smoke with my dogs in the car let alone someone's kid. Car interior is too damn small - little lungs can't process that much condensed junk in the air. Plus I hate the smell of cig in my dog's fur - I imagine some parents hate that smell on their kids too.

My dad used to smoke in the car, I never complained because it was my dad and he was the adult and what he said and did was his business, not mine. But I hated it - made me sick. Just cause your kid doesn't say anything doesn't mean they don't care. Smarten the hell up.

Tangent thought: not impressed with no smoking in restaurants though. Makes me realise just how boring the person opposite me is. At least when I could chug a stick I had something to do for 7 minutes. And seriously, would the Jack Rabbit Slim's restaurant dialogue in Pulp Fiction have been as interesting without the rollie scene - definitely not.

If an adult wants to smoke, that's fine. They're old enough to make that choice. But they have no right to endanger others while doing it. Especially when it comes to children. A child's health is important and if they're own parents won't protect them, someone has to.

Someone has to look out for the kids. If people are smoking in a confined space, this will fill up the air quickly with second hand smoke.

If such parents do not know better, then there is no choice but to pass laws to make such actions illegal.

Someone has to look out for minors.
